maxi love

( maxi dress: thrifted, vest & bag: vintage, bangle: diva, sandals: dotti )

This is by far my favourite maxi dress. I found it at one of my local thrift stores about 12 months ago. Its by Tokito (a myer brand), so its great quality and I love it to pieces. I would wear it to work too if it wasn't so low cut at the front! Plus I am much much happier with the outfit photos today, I think Scott did a great job.

Today Scott and I went into the city. Scott did a 3 hour photography course (which he received from my parents for Christmas), while I did some retail therapy. I didnt buy too much, just some basic tees, a pencil skirt and a dress. I'm in major need of re-vamping my wardrobe and making it more "work" appropriate.

How did you all spend your weekend?

first day

( singlet: cotton on, top: witchery, shorts: dotti, shoes: target, bag: thrifted )

Just got home from my first day at my new school. Photos were taken this morning, and I just hate them (along with all the other photos taken). I just hate the way I look in them, I think Scott was in a rush to get to work so yeah. I really wanted to post my first day outfit though, so appologies that they are really bad.

First day went well. I re-arranged all the furniture in my classroom (and forgot to take a photo!!). I'm hoping the lady I'm job-sharing with doesnt hate the way I've arranged the room, cause I spent a good chunk of my day moving furniture. To be honest I'm a bit overwhelmed, there was a lot of information to take in and the lady who I am job-sharing with wasen't there so I didnt get a chance to meet with her and discuss how we are going to run the class and divide all the content that we need to teach. However I did get her phone number from the lady in the office, so I might give her a call over the weekend.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

australia day plus exciting news!

So how did all my lovely aussie bloggers spend Australia Day?? Hope you all have a great day. It was disgusting hot so we headed over to my in-laws to cool down in the pool. My brother in law, Chris and partner Jacqui were there too. The boys kept jumping in the pool to see who could make the biggests splashes (typical boys).

For dinner we headed over to our close friends Joseph & Jodie, and got to hang out with their super-cute 16 month old son Zak. Aint he just adorable?!

As the title suggests - I have some exciting news.... I just found out today that I have work for this year. Im so relieved and excited! I'll be doing three days a week, job sharing on a 4/5 class. I'll be at a brand new school - so I've never worked their before, its a fresh start. This is my first class ever so as you might expect... I am over the moon !

weekend together

I hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend, what did you all get up to? Scott came back from Melbourne on Friday night, and its so nice to have him back home... be has been away for two weeks (excluding the weekends)!

On Saturday Scott and I tried out a Zumba class at our local gym. I really want to loose a bit of pudge around my stomach, and thought it would be a good start. It was a really fun class, and the time flew by... I'm going to try and go to another Zumba class tomorrow night too. Do any of you go to Zumba? Would love to hear how you find it in terms of weight loss or more tonning. We ended our day celebrating a friends birthday with a surprise party!

Sunday we went into town and saw Tap Dogs. It was pretty amazing. Those guys are so damn talented and very entertaining! Would def recommend it if anyone is thinking of going. In the afternoon we went for an hour long walk and discovered a new walking track around our home. It runs along a river and its just so beautiful. Can't wait to do that again!

nanna cat

( dress: ally, sandals: dotti, bag: vintage )

I know you've proberbly seen this dress before, but I wanted to show it to you again. I have seriously been living in it since I bought it about three weeks ago. It is the most comfortable dress ever. I love the pattern, ruffles, the lot. Right now - its my #1 dress. I spent today visiting my parents. Mum worked till 1pm, I got my nails done in the morning (notice the new colour & shorter length!), then went to the markets with my dad, before mum came home and we all had lunch together.

Mum took my photos for me today - thanks mum. She's always willing to help me with whatever I need, she is seriously the best mum out there. I wanted you to see my pets too, so I took a few photos of my cat, Mary. She's pretty photogenic (despite her ripe age of 16), I love taking photos of her. My dog, Diva on the other hand, cannot for one second sit still, so I only got one decent photo of her out of about 30 that I tried to take! Still love her though!

corn & capsicum quiches

I should start by saying that I'm not particularly good in the kitchen. I've never been very interested in cooking while I was still living at home, and since moving out I find cooking a bit daunting. I find myself too scared to try and cook something because I know I don't have much experince in the kitchen and really i just don't want to fail. Especially now that I am wife, I feel that cooking should be a natural thing - well its not.

Scott is at Melbourne this week for work, so I decided tonight that I should try something new. I feel a lot less pressure not having Scott around (not that he pressures me in any way, its really just all in my head). And if my attempt was a ginormous fail... well then no-body would know.

Tonight I tried my luck at Corn & Red Capsicum Quiches, and I'm quite impressed with myself. I'm going to write out the recipe below (if you would like to try it out yourself sometime) and add some pictures I took as well. They are a small size, so perfect for party food and snaks too. I ended up having 7 of them for dinner tonight.

Corn & Red Capsicum Quiches

You'll Need:

2 sheets of ready-rolled shortcrust (pie) pastry
135g tinned corn kernels (drained)
40g grated cheddar cheese
1/2 red capsicum, seeded and finely chopped
2 eggs
170ml pouring whipping cream
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
a dash of Tabasco sauce

You'll Need To:

1. Preheat the over to 200'C. Grease two shallow 12-hole patty pans or mini muffin tins. Lay the pastry on a lightly floured work surface and cut 12 rounds from each sheet (approx 8cm in diameter).

2. Line the tins with the pastry circles.

3. Mix the corn kernels with the cheddar cheese and red capsicum.

4. Beat the eggs, cream, mustard and Tabasco sauce. Divide the sorn mixture evenly among the pastry cases.

5. Top with the egg mixture until almost full. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until puffed and golden.

6. Remove from the tins while warm and cool on wire racks.

nic & naths engagement

Last Saturday night my lovely maid of honour Nicole, and her fiance Nathan celebrated their engagement. We had a seriously awesome time! We drank, and danced the night away, and of course took a few too many ridiculous photos of ourselves along the way. I tried to post a handful of pics that sumed up the evening and I think I think I did a pretty good job. All of our close group of girlfriends & partners were able to attend which was great! I had a few drinks, and Scott had a few more.

The engagement party was in Woollongong (almost an hour and a half from our home), so we decided to stay locally and save us the drive home and also to be able to have a few drinks. We stayed at the dodgiest place ever, and so not worth the money we payed. So in the future, I wouldn't recommend staying at the City Beach Motel, Woollongong, it was quite a basic set-up, with really old furnishings and a scary spa bath-tub that I wouldn't get into if my life depended on it. Its fine for a sleep - but seriously I think you could find sometihng better and cheaper than the $200 we spent for one night.
