tie-dye stripes

(dress, bag and shoes: thrifted, sunglasses: greece)

We've finally come home after being on vacation for about a month. Was I ready to come home? Not exactly, but walking into our home after being away for so long gave me the warmest feeling in my stomach and really made me appreciate what we have here in Sydney. I love Sydney - I love the city, and the western suburbs, the people, the food, the shopping, everything.

I wore this dress sometime in our third and final week in Greece, before we headed of to Malta. Another great thrift find - and favourite summer dress of mine. Although, as with all my maxi dresses - it needs a top underneith. I just dont feel comfortable having a whole lot of boob out there for the world to see.

Now that we are back at home, I'm starting to miss a few things from Greece.... one of them being the amazing waffles and ice-cream. Oh-my, I dont think words can explain how mouth-wateringly delicious the waffles & ice-cream were in Greece.

one year

One year to the day I married my best friend. It was the best thing I have ever done, and I am so thankful each and every day for having found such a wonderful man to share my life with. No words can express how happy you make me feel Scott - and I have to pinch myself from time to time to make sure I'm not dreaming. You are my everything and I love you with all that I have.

date night

(dress: ally, shoes: thrifted, rings; greece & online)

I absolutely adore this dress - its so me! I bought it only a week before we left for Greece - and I wanted to save it for a special occasion - date night!! We ended up going local (again) - just a walk down to the ebach from our house. We sat right on the water, and ordered a few different bits and pieces to share, including some fresh fish - tasted awesome.

Its our one-year wedding anniversary this Sunday - so exciting! I can't belive its been a year already - time has definatley gone by fast. We have planned to go out for lunch together with my parents on the day as we have an early flight the next morning to Malta - so we'll have a romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary together on the Monday night.

the best beach

Last week Scott and I caught a boat from of the local ports here, to the most beautiful beach ever - Psili Amou (which trasnlates into 'High Sand). Its just gorgeous - the sea is flat as far as the eye can see - and water is only about waist high for the first 100m or so. Its so beautiful - hope you enjoy a few photos we took on the day.

the dress i loved

(dress, shoes, bag and top: thrifted, ring: online)

I wore this dress out sometime last week and sadly I have ruined it. Have you ever runied some piece of clothing you really loved? Well, this dress - I loved. I only purchased it day before going away and was excited to wear it. I adore its ruffled skirt and cute buttons down the front.... but unfortunatley I wont be able to wear it without something over the top (as pictured) any more.

What happened you ask? I have no idea to be honest. But when I went home and undressed I noticed that the seam than runs down my left breast has totally come appart (thank goodness I had another top over the dress - imagine my horror if I had not worn anything over the top!) Perhaps my left breast grew dramatically over the day? Like I said I have no idea. Mum tried to fix it but the fabric is so delicate that it was no hope. I still love this dress though - as a matter of fact I am wearing it right now, but in future will have to be worn with something over the top.

Have you had any clothing disasters?

festival

There was a festival last Friday night celebrating Independence Day for the island. It was at Pythagorio – one of the oldest ports in Samos and also the birth place of Pythagoras. We arrived there at about 6.30pm, only to find that perhaps we should have arrived earlier as there was no parking available. We were a bit naughty though and parked where it was most probably a no-parking zone. Oh well.... we didn’t get booked or anything, I suspect as it was a festival and as the people here as so laid-back as it is, the police turned a blind eye.
The night was filled with music, fireworks, and loads of people. We enjoyed a nice dinner by the sea, and a walk along the port, before we gathered together to watch the fireworks display and listen to some live music. I also go to show off my new ring, which I bought the day before. It cost me 5 euro which is about $6.50 aussie dollars – bargain!

denim & stripes

(shorts: cotton on, top: thrifted, ring: greece)

I managed to tie up my hair on Thursday. I have no idea how I did it, but I did. Needless to say I probably used an entire packed of bobby pins, but hey.... at least I got it all up right? We went to visit some of my dads’ relatives, who live in Athens normally but were just vacationing at their holiday home on the island. They are in the process of renovating a quaint little house which once belonged to my dads’ great grandfather, and they are doing a great job! Wish I had taken some photos to share.

sweets store

(shirt: cotton on, shorts: cotton on, bag: thrifted, hat: greece)

So we ended up back in Vathi on Wednesday, just to hang out and soak up the atmosphere, and we came across the most mouth-watering little sweets store! Floor to ceiling was filled with glass cabinets of assorted cakes, lollies and chocolates. Every colour, every flavour, every size. And for a little village I was shocked they had such a great variety. As tempting as it was to buy everything we could carry, we opted for just a few little pieces to sample.

Sorry I havent been commenting all that much on all your lovely blogs of late. Just want you all to know I am reading them, but for some reason when I go to comment, Blogger asks me to sign in, and once I've singed in, I am "anon". So Im having a bit of trouble keeping logged in to comment. Promise I'll do a massive backlog of overdue comments once I'm home!

Also I am thinking of doing a giveaway in celebration of being on holidays. I'm gonna buy a little something here in Greece and also something else when I'm in Malta, and when I get home I'll run two giveaways back-to-back - woohoo!

date night

(dress & shoes: thrifted)

What’s better than a date-night with your man? A date-night with your man on a Greek island! We are pretty lucky that we will be going on two date nights while in Greece as well as celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary. This past Tuesday night was my-choice date night... but as we don’t know the area here all that well, I just decided we walk down to the beach and pick a nice looking place then and there. Of course back in Sydney we would of needed to make a reservation, but its so laid-back here there is no need to do that. We ended up at a restaurant called “To Kyma”, which translates to “The Wave”. We got a spot right on the water and ordered a few plates to share – Greek salad, calamari and saganaki (Greek style grilled cheese). Could we say no to some fabulous ice-cream for dessert? Obviously not – diet can wait till we get home!

visiting vathi

These photos were taken on Monday, when Scott and I along with my parents went into the main city (Vathi) to have lunch and just hang out. I made friends with this cat – she was beautiful, and happily ate anything we gave her.

That evening my aunty, uncle and cousin (who live here) came over to our place and we then went and sat at a cafe by the water to enjoy a few drinks. Bliss.

We enjoyed an awesome ‘date night’ on Tuesday – just me and Scott, which I’ll post about shortly. I can’t believe its Thursday already – I’ve taken so many photos and have done so much that I want to share but somehow I haven’t! There is no excuse really. I brought my laptop along so I can upload photos and write posts at home, then take it all on a USB to the internet cafe – just a minute walk away.
