When I started to do a bit of research for wedding bouquets, I was totally blown away by how expensive they were. I called many different florists, but they were all quoting me ridiculous prices. For three bouquets (mine, my maid of honours and my flowergirls), it would have cost me around the $1000. Definatley not something I was prepared to pay! So.... I decided to make them myself. I googled "DIY bouquet" and found tons of easy-to-follow step by step instructions on constructing a wedding bouquet. I bought the flowers (white roses) from a friend whose dad grows flowers on his property at cost price, and all the flowers ended up costsing me less than the price of one small bouquet from the florist. The night before our wedding, my maid of honour came round and we sat in front of the telly making the bouquets. They wern't perfect, but seriously - who inspects the flowers anyways. Overall, I think they turned out well, and I am so happy we chose to make them ourselves. We decorated the bouquets with dusty millar (foliage) and creamy white feathers.
They are BEAUTIFUL!! And totally something I will do, because I can't fathom spending thousands on flowers. Mostly though I want to feel like I am a part of everything, so why not do it myself!!

ReplyDeleteang - yeah they do and its a TOTAL RIP-OFF!!!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine bought the really good quality silk flowers for her wedding, and all of us bridesmaids and her sat around one night drinking wine and making them. Not only did they turn out fabulous, but mine is on my desk in a vase looking just as wonderful as it did the day she was married and it a great reminder!
