polka dots

Im so missing the summer weather! Greece and Malta were so beautiful and hot, I just can't wait till Sydney catches up. Although I can't really complain, its been realy nice Spring weather since we got home just over one week ago.

I was looking forward to doing an outfit post today but yesterday I developed a cold-sore so that was out of the question! I haven't had a cold-sore in years so I'm really bumed about it - oh well... not much I can do about it now, except of course to lather it in Zovirax in the hope it will die asap.

These photos are from Greece, one day when Scott, my parents and I went for a drive around the island. It was a carefree day, we just drove wherever the road took us. I'm so looking forward to summer in Sydney when we can drive around with our windows down and our sunnies on.... What are you most looking forward to?

tie-dye stripes

(dress, bag and shoes: thrifted, sunglasses: greece)

We've finally come home after being on vacation for about a month. Was I ready to come home? Not exactly, but walking into our home after being away for so long gave me the warmest feeling in my stomach and really made me appreciate what we have here in Sydney. I love Sydney - I love the city, and the western suburbs, the people, the food, the shopping, everything.

I wore this dress sometime in our third and final week in Greece, before we headed of to Malta. Another great thrift find - and favourite summer dress of mine. Although, as with all my maxi dresses - it needs a top underneith. I just dont feel comfortable having a whole lot of boob out there for the world to see.

Now that we are back at home, I'm starting to miss a few things from Greece.... one of them being the amazing waffles and ice-cream. Oh-my, I dont think words can explain how mouth-wateringly delicious the waffles & ice-cream were in Greece.

date night

(dress: ally, shoes: thrifted, rings; greece & online)

I absolutely adore this dress - its so me! I bought it only a week before we left for Greece - and I wanted to save it for a special occasion - date night!! We ended up going local (again) - just a walk down to the ebach from our house. We sat right on the water, and ordered a few different bits and pieces to share, including some fresh fish - tasted awesome.

Its our one-year wedding anniversary this Sunday - so exciting! I can't belive its been a year already - time has definatley gone by fast. We have planned to go out for lunch together with my parents on the day as we have an early flight the next morning to Malta - so we'll have a romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary together on the Monday night.

the best beach

Last week Scott and I caught a boat from of the local ports here, to the most beautiful beach ever - Psili Amou (which trasnlates into 'High Sand). Its just gorgeous - the sea is flat as far as the eye can see - and water is only about waist high for the first 100m or so. Its so beautiful - hope you enjoy a few photos we took on the day.

the dress i loved

(dress, shoes, bag and top: thrifted, ring: online)

I wore this dress out sometime last week and sadly I have ruined it. Have you ever runied some piece of clothing you really loved? Well, this dress - I loved. I only purchased it day before going away and was excited to wear it. I adore its ruffled skirt and cute buttons down the front.... but unfortunatley I wont be able to wear it without something over the top (as pictured) any more.

What happened you ask? I have no idea to be honest. But when I went home and undressed I noticed that the seam than runs down my left breast has totally come appart (thank goodness I had another top over the dress - imagine my horror if I had not worn anything over the top!) Perhaps my left breast grew dramatically over the day? Like I said I have no idea. Mum tried to fix it but the fabric is so delicate that it was no hope. I still love this dress though - as a matter of fact I am wearing it right now, but in future will have to be worn with something over the top.

Have you had any clothing disasters?

festival

There was a festival last Friday night celebrating Independence Day for the island. It was at Pythagorio – one of the oldest ports in Samos and also the birth place of Pythagoras. We arrived there at about 6.30pm, only to find that perhaps we should have arrived earlier as there was no parking available. We were a bit naughty though and parked where it was most probably a no-parking zone. Oh well.... we didn’t get booked or anything, I suspect as it was a festival and as the people here as so laid-back as it is, the police turned a blind eye.
The night was filled with music, fireworks, and loads of people. We enjoyed a nice dinner by the sea, and a walk along the port, before we gathered together to watch the fireworks display and listen to some live music. I also go to show off my new ring, which I bought the day before. It cost me 5 euro which is about $6.50 aussie dollars – bargain!

denim & stripes

(shorts: cotton on, top: thrifted, ring: greece)

I managed to tie up my hair on Thursday. I have no idea how I did it, but I did. Needless to say I probably used an entire packed of bobby pins, but hey.... at least I got it all up right? We went to visit some of my dads’ relatives, who live in Athens normally but were just vacationing at their holiday home on the island. They are in the process of renovating a quaint little house which once belonged to my dads’ great grandfather, and they are doing a great job! Wish I had taken some photos to share.
